Bar Attendant & Barista Job Description

Job brief

Zermatt Kollektiv have a busy role for a Bar Attendant and Barista to provide an excellent guest drinking experience. Zermatt Kollektiv is known for its fantastic coffee which is roasted in our own Roesterie. This fast paced and skilful role will be core in delighting customers and show a creative flair for Kaffee Art. You will also learn to roast coffee and be part of a team creating amazing coffee experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for restaurant patrons
  • Interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks when needed whilst paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
  • Prepare drinks following established recipes
  • Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations for on site drinks and retail sales of coffee
  • Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
  • Plan and present bar menu
  • Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age when appropriate
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
  • Keep the bar area clean and ready for service
  • Maintain stock of clean cups, mugs, glasses and crockery
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Provide barista service at events both within the restaurant and outside
  • Provide “coffee experience” training/sessions for clients
  • Roasting coffee for sale to retail and wholesale markets as well as in the restaurant
  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Bartender and/or Barista
  • Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
  • Computer literacy
  • Hands-on experience with brewing equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean
  • Relevant training certificate if a qualified barista
